Filing Tax Return 確定申告の季節

In Japan, it is time for annual tax return.
Some people may think that artists never keep books and record, but we do.
Actually being an artist is just self employed business, so we do all administrative duties that every sole proprietorship should do.

I have already done with inventories; canvas, brushes, paints, frames, works in progress, etc.
However I am very slow learning accounting and writing all these documents gives me headache every year :-( .
A plus B minus C should be... No, it shouldn't be... Oh, I hate it.

Cerebrating Birthday, Starting New Painting

Baked a pumpkin pudding for my husband birthday.
This is the most favorite dessert of him!
I used to bake cakes, pies, and cookies very often for the first few years of marriage, but not anymore, since we both were putting on weight... ;-)
Anyway, this is his birthday, so some treat for him.
I always try not let my housework eat into my studio hours , so I started cooking as early as 7:00 this morning (!) right after my husband headed off to work.
Getting in time at 9:00 AM, started studio work.
Listening internet radio I come to know recently, I just continued to paint until lunch break.

Snowy Day

The heaviest snowfall in the last 7 years in Tokyo metropolitan area!

Half melted snow before noon

I was locked in yesterday (which actually became good excuse to spend a lazy day, though...), but need to go to my gallery today for delivering commissioned work.
So I got into my closet and found my old snow boots I bought for ski 10 years ago!

Long time no see.
How nice! :-))) It is very comfortable to walk on icy streets holding a big package of paiting under my arm.
My little idea. Do you know that a piece of bubble wrap placing in the shoes keeps your feet very warm? Nobody will know that you are standing on a packing material, but it really works on a cold day. Just try!

Looking for a style

My new challenge of 2013 is to paint ripples of water.
This isn't a easy task, but as many artists have done it successfully, I will try it out anyway.

work in progress

Water has been one of the most interesting painting theme for me, but have never painted so far. So this is my first time to paint water.
So far, it got off OK, but a bit too much of impressionistic taste and color.
Although I like impressionist paintings, I want to create my own style as I did when developing drop painting series.
Sometimes it takes a few years to develop a style, sometimes months. So please warmly watch the growth of this new theme of my painting :-)

絵画制作のテーマとして、水を描くことに長いこと興味がありましたが、これまで描いたことはありませんでした。今のところまあまあの滑り出しですが、 ちょっと印象主義っぽすぎるかも。
