Great Help

It is always great to have an assistant who knows the needs of the artist without a word. My husband is very supportive and today (Saturday morning !) he helped me to take pictures of my recent paintings. I usually do this job by myself, but for larger painting I need an assistant to hold it.
Some will say that I should have professional setting for lighting and shooting in my studio so that I can take pictures regardless of whether.  However, I still believe that best lighting for shooting paintings is sunlight between 10 am - 12 noon. Howsoever I came to know how to set up artificial lighting, I end up with shooting outside under the sun. I feel that natural sunlight is still the best to reproduce the colors of paints and it gives the most even light to the surface of canvas. And the best of all about assistant husband and sunlight, they both are free!

何も言わなくてもアーティストの望みを分かってくれるアシスタントがいるととても助かります。うちの夫はとても協力的で、今朝（土曜の朝）も作品の写真撮影を手伝ってくれています。通常、写真撮影は自分でするのですが、大きめの作品のときは手伝いがいるのです。
作品を撮影する時に、アトリエの中にセッティングをするほうが天気に左右されなくて良いという人もいますが、私は午前10時から正午までのあいだに外で撮影するのがベストだと思います。アトリエ内での人工的なセッティングがわかるようになってからも、結局は外で撮影しています。絵の具の色を再現するのには自然な太陽光が一番良いし、キャンバスの表面に均一な光を与えることができるのはやはり太陽光のように感じます。そして何より、夫がアシスタントをしてくれることと、太陽光の良い点は、「タダ」だということです。
