Prime Coating

Spent all day for applying prime coat on new canvases.
I use Matsuda's CANSOL for that purpose;
Although gesso is waterbased and tend to lose its volume when the water in it evaporates, I heard that CANSOL is oilbased made from titanium oxide dissolved with linceed oil and petrol.
Just right for oil painting!


Only problem for it is of the smell.. Very painty.

I should not have done this job at this time of the year;
It is hey fever season! I cannot open the studio window and the room is filled with the smell of all paints!

一日中新しいキャンバスの下塗り作業。
私は下塗りにマツダのキャンゾールという製品を使っています。
ジェッソは水性なので、水分が蒸発する際に少し痩せる傾向があるのですが、キャンゾールは酸化チタン、リンシード、ペトロールでできた油性の製品だそう。まさに油彩画にうってつけなのです。
ただ一つの問題はニオイ。。。とてもペンキくさいです。
よく考えれば、 この作業をするべき時期ではなかった。。
花粉の季節です！
アトリエの窓を開ける事もできず、部屋にはペンキのニオイが充満しています。
